J. R. Drumwrlght, M.D. Medical Director Chemicals Operations & Corporate Services Conoco Inc. P. 0. Box 1267 Ponca City, OK 74603 (405) 767-2794 T January 4, 1983 Mr. Robert H. Demsey Executive Vice President Health Examinetics Inc. 11545 Sorrento Valley Road Suite 308 San Diego, CA. 92121 RE: X-Ray Interpretation and Handling Dear Bob: As you recall, we had discussed having Conoco's x-rays taken by the HEI Van as part of the routine medical screening activities but having the interpretations performed by a local radiology group. This proposal offered many advantages but some disadvantages as well. We, therefore, have elected to have HEI continue handling all aspects of the x-ray portion of the van screening as in previous years. We will expect the films to be returned to the Conoco Medical Division for storage after interpretation and computerization of the data, as per contract. (The identifiers for these boxes of films were discussed with you during your visit in Ponca City, as you recall.) In my December 20, 1982 letter to you, a total fee of $109.35 per partici pant was mentioned as the "working figure" - pending, of course, Metpath's fee adjustment for laboratory tests. This figure should now be adjusted to $110.35 per participant as $1.00 per x-ray interpretation will need to be included. Dr. Garry Smith and I discussed several aspects of this proposal by tele phone with Ed Berner on January 3, 1983. Mr. Berner was most helpful and pointed out several advantages of having the films interpreted by HEI. He also assured us that he was personally committed to improving HEI's role in this area. The items he covered were quite appropriate for our needs and addressed many of the concerns we've discussed in the past. His input certainly helped us reach the decision to continue having HEI provide the x-ray interpretations as part of the mobile van's program. I have already spoken with Penni Ferris at HEI Headquarters in New York, Colleen Price and Kristine with the HEI Van here in Ponca City, and Michele Malloy, Conoco Legal, Houston, regarding this change in the testing protocol for 1983. Appropriate changes in the contract and operations orders are being made and will be sent out to all appropriate parties in the very near future. DTH 000031596 Mr. Robert H.
