In other words, after that date only NIOSH approved filter and cartridge type respirators would be acceptable for compliance with OSHA 1910.134 regulation on use of such protection equipment. Although the change-over date Is about a year away, we recommend that each plant using such equipment 9tart phasing out all the old respirators and replace them with respirators with NIOSH approval under Schedule 21C and 23c, as new respirators are ordered. There are two sources from where Information can be obtained on NIOSH approved filter and cartridge respirators: 1. NIOSH has published a list of their certified protection equipment which is updated periodically through supplements. The following publications can be obtained by writing to the address below.
