Dear Jerry: We have had further inquiry from C. Richard Wolf, M.D,,, of the California Department of Public Health, speaking for himself and Tom Mllby, about the standard of quality, with respect to lead, for ceramic ware, and the necessity of doing something about this, both as to foreign and domestic products. Being mindful of your remarks to me on this matter, it has occurred to me that I should tell you about this and refer also to our work on the subject. It is a source of considerable personal and professional embarrassment to me that x was u?ver able to find time to prepare a full " report to the eastern group with whoa we consulted on this problem, ; I am, also very sorry that we dropped out of the picture, and that their further actions went somewhat astray (or so it seems). / X wonder if there is any possibility of salvaging something out of this situation, or of participating in any way (formally or not) in the further consideration of this matter. I gather from Dr. Wolf's letter that they are very much concerned about this and that they may undertake to do something about it.
