Requiring no overhead supporting steelwork it makes an ideal roof arch for flues. It is also used on narrow annealing or similar type furnaces where service requirements are not severe or lack of overhead space prohibits the use of a conventional supported roof arch. A major advantage of this construction is that it can be installed from the inside of a furnace or flue and it requires a minimum of form work to install. When used as a jack arch over small openings in a brick wall it will allow substantial savings in labor over the conventional sprung type arch.
