Licking County Hospital Reports of January 15, 1982, January 25, 1982, and February 4, 1982, denote a change of diagnosis from contact dermatitis to atopic eczema. 2. At the district hearing, Mr. Seel Indicated his problem developed due to the addition of ferric chloride In the asphalt. The research of toppers Company's Corporate Safety Director and Corporate Toxicologist Indicates that the ferric chloride concentration level Is too low to cause any harm, as the level Is 100 gallons of ferric chloride per 30,000 gallons of asphalt. Furthermore, excess fumes are burned off at 1.300 degrees fahrenhelt. 3. The employer can substantiate that their asphalt ystem Is completely self-contained. As the asphalt Is placed In the cbntalners at 340 degrees to 640 degrees fahrenhc-ft, any contact, although not possible, would result In third degrt' burns, not contact dermatitis. The wand used to dispense the asphalt Is approximately six to eight feet In length, with the nozzle designed to avoid splashes. Because the work environment Is entirely a closed system, toppers Company wishes to refute any allegations made by the claimant that he was covered by asphalt during the course of his dally work.
