Blood t e s t s on em ployees who work w ith FC-143 showed up to 70 ppm o f o r g a n ic f l u o r i n e i n 3M em ployees and up t o 22 ppm i n P a r k e r s b u r g em p lo y e e s com pared t o a g e n e r a l b a c k g ro u n d l e v e l o f l e s s th a n 1 ppm. No a d v e r s e h e a lth e ffe c t has been d etected in any o f the exposed people. T ests a t H askell L ab o rato ry re v e a le d t h a t FC-143 r e a d ily p e n e tr a te s th e s k in o f an im als and cau ses l i v e r damage and i n h eav y d o se s may c a u se d e a th . I n view o f t h i s I n f o r m a tio n , a d e c is io n was made to a n a ly z e b lo o d sam ples from a sm all group o f S pruance em ployees w ith p o te n tia l FC-143 ex posure in S pinning and F in is h in g and a c o n tro l g roup.
