Wllde-of'the Atlantic Refining Company of Philadelphia we attempted to secure/a copy of the Bureau of Mines publica tion entitled "Experimental Study oh.'the Effect of Ethyl Gasoline and its Combustion Products." Our Washington representative has informed us that this publication is no longer available\\ Our interest in this subject has developed because of a Workmen's Com pensation claim which has been' presented tons. A brief summary of the case follows* This company insures St. John's Cemetery Company, 49 H. 5th Street, Hamburg, Pennsylvania for Workmen's Compensation purposes. 8HMHI, an employee of St. John's Cemetery died July 27, 1946. His wife xll^u^apetiPion for Workmen* s Compensation benefits in which she states that Mr was employed as ^maintenance man, mowing grass and digging gravesTorthe^cerne te'ry and - that-- he suffered an accident on May 4, 1946 because he was. exposed'to exhaust fumes by a gasoline digger for graves and that he contacted lead poisoning'as a result of his exposure to the fumes of the burn ing gasoline. V Our investigation-leads us to believe that it is not possible for the claimant to have-ingested lead in the maimer described in the claim petition. However, in order-to defend the case properly, we shall need proper proof. If you have an extra copy of the Bureau of Mines publication, we ask that you kindly loan or sell it to us. In the event your Monograph Humber two deals with the subject and copies are available, we shall be happy to purchase two copies. In the event more recent work has been done in the connection with this problem, we ask that you kindly advise us concerning the availability of this information.
