The Department of Engineers and Inspection of the City of Detroit are very concerned with cycle of water saturation and drying^of asbestos fiber materials* Two jobs failed where this material was exposed to constant' wetting and drying* One a parking deck that had been fire proofed with asbestos fiber, the other a meat packing area where water is used to clean up after operations* They are concerned to a point that they want to ban the.use of this material unless given some specifics* We know from experience that certainly some exposure to dampness, rain, etc*, has not in anyway caused failure but it would appear that constant exposure to water will destroy the binder* We will appreciate your comments and recommendation* Sincere.ly yours.
