RUEHL - WAYNESBORO DEPARTMENTAL ASBESTOS MEETING Some .recent court decisions regarding certain provisions of the OSHA asbestos standard, the departmental move to go to soft insulation and interplant variance in the administration of asbestos compliance programs has prompted a need to consider whether we should more precisely standardize our approach to asbestos control. Consequently a departmental asbestos meeting is being considered for some time in the early fall 'of this year. The purpose of this meeting will be to share our ideas, concerns, and questions regarding the administration of-asbestos control programs, and hopefully emerge with a better understanding of asbestos regulations and a more uniform approach to control. This will be a group effort relying on premeeting preparation by participants to research, prepare, and lead discussions on portions of the agenda. Each attendee will be asked to: (1) Help prepare the agenda of topics to be discussed. (2) List questions which need addressing on each agenda item. (3) State topics they are willing to lead the discussion on. (4) State which topics they have information on that may help in the discussion of that topic. As attendees, I would suggest at a minimum from each site - one person from the SHE organization responsible for overseeing asbestos compliance and one person`from works engineering who is responsible for implementation of asbestos control. Orrin Skretvedt, Spruance, will coordinate the logistics for the meeting place, time, agenda, and site contacts. The writer will contact the necessary Wilmington groups (Haskell, Legal, etc.).
