Unloading Of N-Butanol Barge 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To accomplish the off loading of N-Butanol from the dock barge to shore tank DV-3 without compromising or contaminating the raw material. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the operations personnel to ensure that this procedure is completed in a safe and efficient manner. 2.2 It is the responsibility of the senior operations specialist and the operations specialist to ensure that this procedure is executed in a safe and efficient manner. 3.0 Procedure: (Sampling is not required is a COA is available for quality and reactive chemicals verification) 3.1 After collecting samples on the barge, the dock crew will bring these samples to the lab. 3.2 Isolate DV-3 from DV-103 by blocking in the fill valve at DV-103. You may also use the flow from the barge to refill DV-103 if needed. 3.3 Block P-3 discharge valve. 3.4 Open DV-3 fill valve and the three 2" valves on the recirculation line that runs along the bottom of the tank. 3.5 Record starting inventory on the transfer sheet. 3.6 When all the analysis have been completed and approval by the control room operator has been obtained , call the dock and tell them to start pumping to DV-3. 3.7 After the dock has notified the control room that the barge is empty, return all valves to their original position.
