We enjoy that. In fact, we consider it a compliment, and look forward to more compliments just like it as we continue to make improvements on everything in the COBRA line. In 1971 we tackled the alleged "problem" of asbestos fibers being released from the shoe during braking. We discovered that there really isn't a problem. * Almost all of the fiber is decom posed during braking applications. Less than one percent of the original asbestos fiber in the COBRA shoe remains as fiber in the wear dust..............and less than one-tenth of that can become airborne. About a year ago, we removed the lead content from our shoes. It didn't do a thing to improve braking performance, but it did help our manufacturing environment and our workers were happy. Of course, the resulting composition exceeded A.A.R. specifications. Now, one of our competitors is looking into the same areas, and has announced the availability of a lead-free, asbestos-free shoe.
