Doctors Ianxa and UcConnell attended the Conferences oa Silioosis at Saraaas last vsok and Dostor Ianxa xayx that on Juas 20th ho "had lunch vith Dr. Qardaor* in company vith three or four representatives of tho Association of Mutual Casualty Companies. During the luncheon* Dr* Oardnor received a telegram from the Seoretary of this Asboelation* notifying him that tha Association bad made him a grant of $5*000 and vould ba inclined to listen favorably to a request for the renewal of this grant for a period of years and also possibly the increasing of the amount. It ms the hope of the representatives of the Association present to have this grant increased to $10*000 a year for three years. Hr. Graff* whe represents tbs National Board of Surety and Casualty Underwriters* stated that ha thought it vas probable that the steak aoaqsanies included in this Association vould also support the Saranae Laboratory and it is my intention to diseuss this with 2 Ur. Results of great value have already been attained by those research workers at Saranac Laboratory, and the promises of further and con tinued discoveries in the near future are brilliant. The high mor tality from tuberculosis among our Industrial policyholders who are engaged in harmful occupations oan and should eontinuo to bo attacked by Just such research as ths Saranac group are making and putting into operation.
