The purpose of this meeting is to review the overall situation concerning the health status of our members who were exposed some years ago to asbestos. While some of our members who were exposed may not presently nve health problems, there is the possibility of problems in the future and it is absolutely essential that a program for continuous monitoring of those exposed be instituted. I have correspondence with the company on this. X am having my secretary make copies of all correspondence exchanged between this office and Pittsburgh Corning management on the asbestos problem. X am Instructing you to place this corres pondence in the hands of the two men who will be accompanying 1-lr. Samuels to the meeting. By having this correspondence they will be able to review the entire record including steps the company has token. We ore, of course, greatly concerned regarding the health of the men who worked in the asbestos operation and who arc still em ployed by the company and members of our union, however, we also believe It Is essential to reach the men who retired.
