The mines have produced since 1850. In the early days the production consisted of silver and lead which were smeltered in a crude Mexican type furnace and carted by ox teams over the famous old Santa Fe Trail to St. Louis. Production has been practically continuous since starting. The only Interruptions have been for short periods in the old days when the Commanchea were on the warpath. The mines are located in an altitude 75^0 feet above sea-level. The Sherwin-Williams Company purchased the mines in l?0lt and have produced since that date more than 300,000 tons of ore. The mineral ground contains 2h7 acres with an additional 556 acres of nonmineral ground. We have blocked out and ready for mining at the present time 133*000 tons of ore which is three years1 requirements. We always keep three years development ahead of con sumption. We have a modern mill which can treat 3*000 tons of ore per month. The mineral consists of sine, lead, copper and in a small way silver and a little gold.
