Hi James -
As decisions are made and continue to evolve surrounding the Administration's goals for reducing the federal workforce, our office has some questions about certain programs within DOI's jurisdiction. I'm hoping you, or someone on your team, can help provide us more information or clarity on the below listed programs or specific situations. We understand layoffs are generally difficult regardless of the industry, but we are hoping to reassure Idahoans the restructured, streamlined work of the federal government will more effectively meet the needs of Idaho.
We're hearing reports the entire on-the-ground recreation management team for the Salmon Challis River was laid off. We're also aware that a jet boat patrol employee was

let go and that it is a specialized position necessary for recreation safety on the river. Can you provide any clarity or guidance?
National Park Service terminations - Three South Idaho parks share staffing already (Minidoka, Craters of the Moon, Hagerman Fossil Beds). Do you have any additional information you can share about terminations in this area and how the Department will go about streamlining in this area?
While we do not expect comments on individual terminations, is there a formal process by which individuals can appeal their termination and that with which our office may assist on a case-by-case basis? We don't intend to advertise this, just looking for guidance for our casework team.
Senator Crapo supports President Trump's efforts to root out waste, fraud and abuse at the federal government. Please don't hesitate to let us know if our office can further assist in those efforts.
Sincerely,
