Monsanto PROGRAM 1. Assess capabilities of all processors to meet Monsanto and regulatory health, safety and environmental standards. Ensure that . companies selected have all available relevant information on the Monsanto products and technology (including toxicological and environmental factors) with which they are involved. Have follow-up assessments at least biannually. 2. Formalize all agreements by contract and include relevant available health, safety and environmental information on Monsanto products and technology. 3. Terminate arrangements with outside processors not meeting Monsanto guideline requirements. STATUS/OBSERVATIONS 1. All outside processors in the U.S. (277) and Europe/Africa (12) plus 31 of 39 in the ROW have all available relevant information on pertinent Monsanto products and technology, including toxicological and environmental factors. 2. Two hundred twenty seven (227) of the U.S., 11 Europe/Africa and 24 ROW processors have received a formal in-depth review. OUTSIDE PROCESSORS Select companies for support of Monsanto operations -- through product conversions, custom manufacture, formulating, packaging, by-product sales, and other services involving Monsanto products / technology -- which will operate with concern for worker safety and protection of the environment. 3. Two hundred fifty-nine (259) of the U.S., 11 of Europe/Africa and 7 ROW processors are covered by formal written agreements. 4. Two hundred ten (210), 11, and 7 respectively have been reviewed by the appropriate Law Department since April 12, 1979. 5. Two hundred fifteen (215), 11, and 1 respectively have had formal safety and environmental reviews since April 1, 1979. NOTE Outside processors include agreements for conversions, processing, blending, formulating, material recovery, material purification, terminals (bulk), repacking, transloading, cleaners (truck and tank cars, tanks, drums), disposal (scrap, sanitary landfills, waste oils, hazardous wastes), waste haulers and waste removal contractors. Warehouses and distributors handling only packaged goods are covered by distribution departments in the operating units.
