September 3, 1971 Hr. Royal A. Brown Technical Director Rational Paint, Varnish ami Lacquer, Assn., Inc. 1900 Rhode Island Are. Washington, D. C. 20005 Dear Mr. Brown: I was most pleased to see in the recent issue of Coatings that the RPVLA has advocated a strong position on the question of store than 1$ lead in interior paints. I feel that such a position is extremely Important In order to protect existing lead paint markets. We have recently been discussing within LIA the possibility of increasing our efforts in the pediatric lead poisoning field. In particular, ve-#eeTinterested in producing a film and also poster- type material subject. We are also ouch concerned about the new Ryan petition to FDA regarding lead in paints. Since ve have a mutual interest on these subjects, I suggest that ve have a meeting in the near future between LIA and RPVLA representatives to deter mine if any Joint action on any of these matters is warranted. If you agree, I would appreciate your contacting me at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, iT. F. Cole, Sc. D. Director, Environmental Health eg: cc K. L. Kimberley D. M. Borcina R. Rogers J. F.
