As you know, fiber experts f rom norm America ana jjuj. w * gathered in Ponte Vedra, Florida , recently'to present technical papers on Fibers for Packing and Gasket Applications. This symposium sponsored by the Techn ical Textile Committee of the Fluid Sealing Association (FSA) was en cnusiastically received by the
members.
This was the first in a series of symposia planned to bring together internationally known experts to discuss the state of the art of fiber production. The speakers representing major U.S. and European corporations stressed the physical thermal and chemical properties of various fibers. These included materials such as Ryton, PBI, cardable glass, carbon, graphite, PTFE, viscose, Momex, and aramid. At future Symposia the FSA Textile Technical Committee plans to cover such topics as Hybrid yarns and fabrics.
