There is a lot of concern in the front office that the Secretary may be involved with other duties beyond his immediate control on April 5. He has been involved in several White House events recently that has taken priority over his planned schedule. We are expecting more in the near future. Therefore, the front office has declined to commit to meeting with your group. The best I can offer is a meeting with me. I am undertaking the duties of the Deputy Secretary. I could invite senior staff from the major land mgmt. agencies as well. Let me know what you would like to do under these circumstances.
