WORK PRACTICES A. Wet Methods - Asbestos must be handled in a wet state sufficient to prevent the emission of fibers in excess of the PEL. B. Particular Products Operations - No asbestos containing material shall be removed from containers in which it was shipped without either being wetted or enclosed to prevent fiber release C. Spraying, Demolition, or Removal - Employees engaged in demolition activities SHALL BE provided with and required to wear respiratory protection and protective clothing. Cleaning - all external surfaces shall be kept free from accumulations of asbestos fibers. B. Waste Disposal procedures shall be according to established plant procedures. VIII. TRAINING A. Minimum training is to include: (1) Health effects associated with asbestos exposure. (2) Relationship between asbestos and smoking in producing lung cancer. (3) Jobs/Tasks that could result in exposure to asbestos and necessary protection steps to minimize exposure.
