ASBESTOS EXPOSURE CONTROL PURPOSE; 1. To protect the health of McGraw employees by eliminating or controlling asbestos exposure. S. To maintain compliance with the OSHA Asbestos Standards, CFR 1910.1001 and 1926.58. 3. State procedures and policies which should be used on the job when there is reasonable cause to think asbestos is present. TRAINING All supervisors be trained to: 1. Initiate the procedures to verify that suspect material is or is not asbestos. 2. Follow the appropriate procedures to protect employees against contact with asbestos. PROCEDURESi FRIABLE ASBESTOS 1. Friable asbestos is defined as any asbestos containing material or product which can be crushed by hand. 2. Triable asbestos shall -ict be handled or processed by any McGraw employee. The handling of all friable asbestos shall be by a certified asbestos abatement contractor. 3. When friable asbestos is encountered in the planning stages of a job, the general superintendent will be notified and he will notify the owners of the company for which McGraw is working. He will assist in the coordinating, planning, and scheduling of an appropriate asbestos abatement contractor. 4. If material which might be asbestos is unexpectedly encountered during a job: A. That portion of the job which could result in a release of asbestos shall be immediately halted. B.
