lEEiASMS: Following our last status report of March 5, 1963 we received a copy of the Death Certificate which stato3 that the eiaimnan claimant died of carcinoma of tho lunch (immediate cause) duo to or as a eonsequcnco of asbestosis. Wo also now have a copy o2 thu duceh autopsy performed by tho County Coroner which cubstantiatcs tho cause of death listed in the Death Certificate. v:o have cont a copy of the coroners report and tho microspopic sr report to Dr. Handling for his review and comments.
In view of theso latest developments wo have had to reevaluate all our our reserves. He have been unable to locate many of fe-rr tho previous employers or carriers listed in the application and it occsi3 as if Marine Engineering and Supply and our insured will bo tho only employers available when this matter is sot down for hearing. Pacific Indemnity wa3 the carrier for Marino Engineering and Supply and has been Joined in this matter. Datween tho two companies there is a total exposure of 27 years. h.-r.p-oycr.o^i li-.iployir.ent and coverage for our insured is 17 years or approximately CO;i. The claimant has only one dependant, hin wifo, and therefore the total amount of death benefits ho might become entitled to would be 13,100 dollars. This is tho total exposure in this ease of which approximately 6074 will ba ours and the other 404 attributable to the claimants employment with Marine Engineering & Supply Company whose carrier was Pacific Indemnity. We have established our indemnity reserve based on this evaluation of 60/4 exposure on 18,100 dollars. We know that the applicant's self procured medical expenses are somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000 and it is questionable as' to whether these medical expenses will be apportioned to the prior carrier
also. He have established our medical reserve at the entire amount of 03000 pending a decision on this point.
THINGS TO DO: 1. Send Dr. Handling a copy of the Death Certificate,
Autopsy report and microscopic report and ask that he issue a
