PLAINTIFF'S [ EXHIBIT A Plant Profile: DuPont Victoria, Texas PUP-2904 DuPCnt's Victoria, Texas Plant is part of a larger DuPont corporate strategic business unit called DuPont Nylon. The Victoria Plant, located in south Victoria County along the Victoria Barge Canal and Guadalupe River, began manufacturing in 1951 on 700 acres with 500 employees. Our first product was Adiponitrile (ADN), an ingredient (or intermediate chemical) needed to make DuPont nylon. ADN continues to be a premier product for the plant. Of the 4500 acres DuPont has acquired since 1951, 1000 acres are used to manufacture five different products, three of which are members of the same nylon intermediates family of ADN. Due to the high quality of our products and large volumes, we are a world competitor in a global Nylon Intermediates market. Our manufacturing processes are state-of-the art, computer-based systems which operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All the products we manufacture at the Victoria Plant are oil and gas based. Using raw materials like butadiene, ammonia, and cyclohexane, we manufacturenylon intermediate chemicals called Adiponitrile (ADN), Hexamethylenediamine (Diamine), and Adipic Acid. We also produce a speciality nylon intermediate called C-12 and a low-density polyethylene plastic resin called Ethylene Copolymers. While you probably do not recognize the chemical names, you might be familiar with these consumer products made of DuPont nylon: Stainmaster Carpet Antron Nylon Cordova Soft-sided luggage Lycra Spandex DUP 0816623 DU 011387 More general applications include automotive parts like tire cord, seatbelts and upholstery; parachutes; bottle cap liners; wire and cable coatings. You can also find our intermediates and plastics in flexible food packaging; carpet backing; paint, haiuand tooth brushes; athletic wear; and women's hosieries and lingerie. We transport our products to our global customers by truck and railcar. Some product is also transported by barge using the Victoria Barge Canal which connects with the Intercoastal Waterway. Fact: We manufacture 20% of the world's Nylon 6,6 Intermediates and 50% of Stainmaster Carpet manufactured begins at Victoria. Fact: We manufacture almost 2 billion pounds of total products annually. DuPont employs about 1300 permanent employees of various skills and backgrounds. Most of us are from South Texas with rural backgrounds.
