SWANY SMELTING DIVISION PITTSBURGH OFFICE - 23 TC MEMORANDUM March 22, 1973 RE: PROTE CTION AGAINST ASBESTOS EXPOSURE In order to insure that we comply with the OSHA Standard for exposure to Asbestos Dust at all Smelting locations and to coordinate our plant activities in locating asbestos-free sub stitutes or installing environmental control eqipment, we have borrowed Bob Hinkle from Badin and assigned him the task of surveying the plants. He will be concerned With the status of the monitoring program which should have been completed by January 7, 1973, the area's monitored and the results, details on asbestos-containing materials used and possible non-asbestos substitutes. Compilation of the plant data will allow us to be sure that all regulations are complied with and there is minimal duplication of effort. Bob will be in Pittsburgh beginning March 27 and will probably be in touch with you during that week. I'm sure he will appreciate all the assistance you can give him. G.
