Concerning my recent telephone conversations with Otis and the exchanges of correspondence concerning the Aroclor studies at your laboratory, this letter is to authorize you to initiate as soon as possible studies 5 through 9 on the attached. The dollar costs are taken from Dr. Fancher's letter and suggested protocols dated September 9, 1968 and his letter and revised protocol for the chicken and duck studies dated April 10, 1969. In a conversation with Otia yesterday he indicated that the coat of the chicken and duck studies using three dosage levels for three materials would be $20,000 for chickens and $20,000 for the mallards rather than the $22,500 shown on his letter of April 10. In an attempt to keep our expenditures to approximately $90,000 for the year 1969* I have shown prorated costs of $96,250 for 1970 and $36,000 for 1971* for those projects which will run through 1970 and into 1971* I would appreciate it if Dr. Fancher or Mr. Berndt could let me know the date that these various studies are started, perhaps, using your usual forms such as you send Dr. Hunt. Please note that we are deferring the subacute fish toxicity studies until we get a better idea of work which is underway in Europe or other laboratories in the U. S. Best personal regards.
