EPA met with Mr. Williams and reviewed the facility's monitoring records and discussed the facility's self-monitoring program. The following is a summary of the RI findings and observations. I. Records/Reports According to EPA's Enforcement and Compliance History Online, the facility has had effluent exceedances for Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) and Total Suspended Solids in 1st quarter 2019 and 1st quarter 2020. The facility had monitoring records, a copy of the NPDES permit, and copies of past correspondences with the EPA and MDEQ on file at the site. II. Facility Site Review McInnis Electric Company has a small septic tank to receive wastewater from the company's three bathrooms. The septic tank, a concrete box located on the premise (Photo 1), discharges directly into a nearby ditch and does not make use of a leach field. The facility does not have land accessible nearby to site a leach field. In a conversation with the facility manager, it was found that wastewater quality issues have been an issue for a considerable time. The facility representative claims that he has been in correspondence with the city of Byram to have a sewage line installed along the road leading to the facility so that it can be connected. As there is currently no sewer line along this road, none of the other locations along the road have direct sewer access.
