Refrasil does not withstand abrasion due to rotary action of the kiln. The plain cloth or "Irish" Refrasil may be suitable in non-abrasion applications such as the. insula tion of truck exhaust and muffler lines, which you men tioned. Vibration could possibly shorten the useful life of the product selected. Samples of Refrasil tape and sleeving are enclosed. At this location blanket and rope are used for insulating and furnace caulking, respectively. These products are advertised to with* stand continuous operation at temperatures of 2300P, Kaovool paper is also being used on laboratory counter ' tops. Johns-Manville is likewise developing a product lino of asbestos substitutes. To date the only information we have available at El Paso is on their glass fiber rope and tape. These materials will not handle temperatures above 7S0F, so they may not be adequate for your application.
