Brockington that $8,000.00 had been granted in principle (P-1455). This is all a little puzzling as when I left El Paso the latest word from both Ur. Labbe and Mr. Teats was that a Beghouee was unsuitable and a Cottrell would have to be used. However, forgetting that angle and simply considering the material to be used, you have undoubtedly picked out the cheapest type of construction and I assume that Labbe approved the use of wood. If the sides had to be actually air tight, it would be necessary to use either concrete or brick or else cover the siding as well as the roof with roofing paper as your 2" x 8" T.& 0. will eventually shrink so that there will be some leakage. Substituting 2* x 6" T.& 0. for the 2x 8" you show would reduce this leakage considerably and the cracks could be battened after shrinkage if necepsary. It ie almost impossible to get a reasonable seal between corrugated transite siding and roof eo I would rule that out unless leakage is immaterial. In addition our latest figures an transits show a cost of about 25. per square in place and con siderably more steel would have to be provided to support it. I find nothing in the estimate to oover the roofing and wonder if the stairs, general walkways* bag hangers and their supports and the walkways above the bags are lnoluded. The thimble floor will require stiffener angles between the beams and 3000 pounds looks too low. I would also suggest raising the unit price to 25^ as thimbles and their attachment to the floor cost a lot more than ordinary steel work. In short for a preliminary figure to be used until drawings are prepared which are in enough detail to allow taking off quantities, I would suggest $20,000.00.
