Mr. R. F. Iraver Staff Manager-Distribution
Services Design 17-3249H3 Mr. Traver:
Subject: Fiber-Cement Conduit I am in agreement that the construction practices for Fiber-Cement Conduit should include a precautionary statement with respect to the abestos fibers. I suggest the following statement be added to the practices in bold face type:
Fiber-Cement Conduit contains asbestos fiber fillers which can present a health hazard if allowed to become airborne. When doing any type of cutting or abrading of the conduit, the area involved must be kept moistened with water to prevent the creation of airborne fibers. After working with or otherwise handling Fiber-Cement Conduit, always wash hands and forearms before eating, drinking or smoking. Please keep me informed as to the progress of this addition to the BSPs.
