Cotter September 2, 1983 XIII; HEAVY TANDEM AXLES The Canadian Region reports a major increase in activity on oil pumps for D44Q and 480P axles. After very low volume for a period of years, they shipped 103 oil pump kits out of the branch in one quarter! Dealers are known to be removing pump parts from heads they rebuild and a key dealer in Western Canada has recently threatened to stock only SShD's because of recurring pump failures in the 440. TCM will locate power dividers running at various mileages and return unfailed units for inspection of the system in a cross-section of wear rates! As a short term measure, production will be instructed via deviation to prime and LOCTITE pump drive gear nuts! The Canadian Region will be supplied sufficient qualified parts to changeout known problems and have reserve material. Updated parts for 650's in CANADA and AUSTRALIA were completed and shipped in late August! TCM hopes to install their parts in REED PAPER vehicles rather than at OUTARDES. XVI! TCM SUPPORT Paul Pipik is attempting to visit the TCM regions as quickly as possiblei show the flag and indicate that the Division remains fully committed to its service program. XV.
