Dear Mr. Whiteside:
In compliance with your Multi-Step Abatement Request, Part II, Paragraph 1, dated June 13, 1973, the following Is our permanent engineering plan and timetable to prevent employee exposure to airborne asbestos dust:
Phase 1
Engineering drawings are presently being completed by a reputable New York consulting engineer to control airborne asbestos dust at the 3 spout joint cement bag packer. The major control Items In the 3500 C.P.M. system will consist of (1) 1 ea. - "Dustex" primary cyclone collector with the cyclone vent routed to (2) 1 ea. "Flex-Kleen", model 84-CT-54 reverse air cleaning baghouse collector. Dust pick-up points will be located at each of the 3 filling spoutsand an air sweep will be located directly under the packer where the filled bags are discharged.
The baghouse has a guaranteed collection efficiency of 99.9Z, and the collected dust will be recycled through the joint cement system with clean air vented to the atmosphere. The Installation schedule for this system Is as follows:

Phase 2
It Is our Intent to eliminate all asbestos additives from the joint cement formulas. The new substitute formulas will contain no toxic or hazzardous materials. The Georgia-Pacific Research Laboratory In Tigard, Oregon is presently engaged In field testing the new formulas without asbestos for customer acceptance at various market locations throughout the U.S.
We expect Dry mix formulas without asbestos will be ready for manufacturing by:
