The normal exposure time, vben assigned to the VCM Tank Car Loading is kO hra. per week. Actual exposure time occurs only when cars are being loaded k-5 hrs./day. The balance of the loading day is taken up by switching cars, car preparation and disconnecting csrs. In actuality 20-25 hra./week would be the actual exposure time. In addition to the above personnel, we have Shift Lead Loaders and Helpers who are not part of joh rotation. Their actual exposure centers around VCM Barge and Ship Loading. The VCM Barge is loaded once a month and VCM ship's can be as high as two per month. * Both loading systems are completely closed and VCM exposure la limited to sampling, which may at times be fairly high concentrations for 15 to 30 minutes especially on ships. Normally, ship loading time exceeds 2k hours, but each man is exposed for only 8 hours and actual exposure time is limited to starting and finishing samples, 30 minutes to 1 hour. The following hourly and supervisory personnel are subject to VCM exposure on barges and ships. First barge of VCM was loaded April 1969, first ship loaded July 1969. Hourly Personnel Supervisory C.
