Ind. Avg .) Ozarchuk handed out tables and reviewed the safety statistics therein which were for the month of June and year-to-date through June. Each person then updated this hand-out to include statistics through July 20, which indicated that no improvement was taking place. Ozarchuk announced that we had been notified by the National Safety Council that we had earned and would be sent an award of honor plaque for our continuing safety performance until November 1976 \j/ \f\ SC 002630 y.\ STG 2401952 LAM003837 PMSB Meeting - 7/20/77 Page 2 2. SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC) -- Daues Greg Daues reported for the SAC Committee covering the two meetings which were held by this committee on the proposed radio system for the Control Center. He handed out Motorola's proposal for the members to review and stated that the committee would meet again before coming back with a final recommendation. Greg Daues reported for SAC regarding the findings of this committee on the use of SECT electric heating systems in our plant. The committee's findings were that this was a good system and upon recommendation of the committee, the Board unanimously accepted the committee's recommendation that the system be adopted for use in this plant'. After adoption of the system, the question was raised, but no action taken, on whether a P-Bulletin would be needed to cover the system as far as labeling, worked on by whom, necessary precautions before being worked on, etc. 3. SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING ACTION COMMITTEE (SHAC) -- Stuart Bob Stuart gave a report on the "EXTRA STEP FOR SAFETY" and informed the Board that the program was 95% complete with 55 employees still not contacted due to extended illnesses and vacations. The 95% of the cards will be turned over soon to the superintendents for review and and action. Stuart further advised the Board that the Office Safety Committee had presented a quarterly program on hurricanes and stated that work was underway for the annual housekeeping inspection. 4. REVIEW OF INCIDENTS Mike McCullough reviewed the several incidents which occurred to his people and Capital Projects people. Ralph Martini gave a description of a "near miss" incident to a CED contractor employee and stated that a report would be circulated on the incident. George Danner related an incident concerning a mate on a ship who became sick, possibly from breathing vapors from the materials being loaded and requested information as to our positions and liability in cases of this type. This could become a far-reaching problem involving common carriers who handle our products. SC 002631 STG 2401953 LAM003838 PMSB Meeting - 7/20/77 Page 3 5. OTHER It was announced at the meeting that the City of Texas City would have a simulated hurricane run on July 21, 1977 and probably we would have some participation in the run. It was brought up in the discussion that our gate to the salt water pumphouse intake might not be able to be closed because of barnacles, etc. Because of the Board's concern, they decided to request that Rex McDonnell contact the Galveston county people and possibly get divers to go down regularly to be sure the gate operates properly. During the hurricane discussion, Greg Daues stated that he was going to send out questionnaires and have a SAC meeting to establish policy on hurricane procedures. The importance of identifying the people who will stay at the plant prior to, and during, a hurricane was pointed out. Many people will be leaving early, it is expected, due to fear of being unable to leave at all because of subsidence. The meeting adjourned at 10:30 a.m. 002632 SC STG 2*0195* LAM003839
