4 Ethanolamines/Glycol Ethers Tier 3 Procedure Section Number: Issue Number: Original Date: Revision Date: Title: References: 1712 1.4 11-11-91 Author: Dwayne Leglue 01-21-98 Warming Up Reboilers Glossary For Equipment Identification (Text #114) 22 PM Series Start-up (For El 10 Specifically) 23 EB Mode Start-up (For El 10 Specifically) 1712 Warming Up Reboilers 1.0 Objective: 1.1 To prevent damage to equipment (reboilers) and personnel by pre-heating the reboiler prior to service in a safe and efficient manner. 2.0 Responsibility: 2.1 It is the responsibility of the operations personnel to ensure that this procedure is fully complied with. 3.0 Procedure: 3.1 Let the boardman know you are going to warm up the reboiler. 3.2 Call the boardman and make sure he/she has the steam control valve closed. 3.3 Slowly open the upstream block valve on the steam control loop to the reboiler you are warming up. 3.4 Open the upstream bleed valve on the control loop. 3.5 Bleed cold condensate from line until you start getting steam from bleed. 3.6 Crack the bypass valve slowly around the control loop to allow a small amount of flow to the reboiler to start warming the shell. (NOTE: Before putting steam on a reboiler it must have a product flow going through it.) 3.7 Open the downstream block valve and bleed valve on the condensate return line and allow a flow to the slab.
