DRAKE ROCKDALE WORKS 1979 August 15 RE; OSHA VISITATION - 1979 AUGUST 06 AND 07 On 1979 August 06, OSHA compliance officers Greg Edwards and Joe Loflin arrived at 3:00 p.m. to present their credentials and discuss the next day's industrial hygiene activities. The purpose of their visit was to attempt to close the file on OSHA Case No. H7471 044. Areas to be inspected were the Carbon Plant mixer area for coal tar pitch volatiles and the Rodding Room for noise. Also, they would look at the bath crusher area for nuisance dust. Two Carbon Plant employees, Fritz Dornhoefer and Albert Cephas, were given personal monitors for coal tar pitch volatiles. The results of this testing will not be available for three to five weeks due to the backlog of testing at Salt Lake City. Two Rodding Room employees were given dosimeters for noise testing. These were the stripping press operator, Charles Swarn, and the cast iron stripper, James Scott. Readout results were 63% for the cast iron stripper and 81% for the stripping press operator. The compliance officers did visit the bath crusher area and talked to Bonnie Wall, the payloader operator. No further comments were offered at this time.
