As you have already indicated, there has been and still is considerable speculation among certain groups in Los Angeles as to the effects of tetraethyl lead fluid and its combustion products in contributing to th air pol lution in Los Angeles. Those who contend that the effects of lead are important are most difficult to dissuade in the absence of the kind of information that you have supplied, and we are very glad to have the benefit of your reply* Several of us were recently at a meeting of the Dickey Committee that is investigating air pollution for the state of California, and many of the questions they asked us pertained to the effect of lead bromide and lead compounds in general on eye irritation. We did our best to discourage thorn from attaching any significance to these materials in the light of present information. them, The reprints are interesting and we appreciate your having sent I hope to see Mr. Grimes sometime in the near future and will point out to him some of the facts that you have given to us. I expect to attend the Midwest Power Conference in Chicago on April 5, 6, and 7, at which time they are having a symposium on air pollution.
