This is a federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration law. A very important part of this standard is the chest X-ray interpretation. The following quote from the standard is included to illustrate this importance. "...a 14 x 17 PA and lateral chest X-ray with detailed radiological interpretation of the state of the pleura, and a statement regarding the presence or absence of pleural abnormalities such as thickening, calcification, plaque, effusion, etc., including a detailed description of the lung parenchyma...". We would appreciate receiving such an interpretation on all PA and lateral chest films sent to your group which are identified as ASBESTOS. If the film is of such a nature that this detailed interpretation cannot be done, we would like to have that informa tion, also. If you have any questions about the requested detailed inter pretation, please don't hesitate to call me.
