Bickerstaff The following actions have been taken and questions have been raised due to the new asoestos standard revision. I have contacted (W) Trafford Printing and they will be revising our internal label to comply with the new standard (see attachment). Scraping charges will be approximately $75.00 and I used budget #9400-50286-360. We will not be charged for the new design which will take about 2 weeks. The last change/original was in 1976. We do not have to make any changes on our documents when referencing the label, i.e. 46017A. When anybody orders this label in the future tney will automatically receive the new revision. The questions raised, is should we label our (W) product at Bedford? Under tne standard. Quin T must demonstrate that airborne fiber levels do not exceed 0.1 fibers/cc (action level) when this stuff is cut, machined, etc. (all occur in foreseeaole use), if they don't label their product. In turn (W) Bedford must also demonstrate the same via air saraplng. Do we really know what our customers foreseeable use is? I checked the files and found only one air sample for asbestos on March 2, 1984 from Bedford. Results were less than 0.003 fioers/cc. I really don't think one sample represents a typical manufacturing process. Maybe we should take more air samples and find out wnat (W) customers actually do with the product. R. J.
