We have carefully considered your input as regards the possibility to replace SF6 in high voltage switchgear. Since the Commission put forward its proposal it has been subject to negotiations between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union. At this stage it is still too early to judge what the final outcome of the negotiations will be. Nevertheless, it is clear that the intention is to avoid the use of highly wanning F-gases in new equipment, if that is feasible. On the other hand, if it tums out that due to site-specific and use-related concerns it is infeasible the use of F-gases with a higher climate warming potential would still be allowed. Consequently, due to the built in exemptions to the prohibitions we do not share your concern that the prohibition could jeopardise the green transition. On the contrary it would be a missed opportunity not to avoid the use of highly warming F-gases where this is feasible.
