Recent evidence suggests that while these hazards may be significant, conversely they may be sharply .reduced or eliminated by appropriate remediable measures. ' The Academy's Division of Environmental Sciences is there fore convening a Working Group on Insulation Industry Hygiene to consider the -steps necessary' to formulate an appropriate industrial hygiene program for this important industry. Experts from Industry, Labor, Government and Academic Insti tutions will participate; Industry representatives will in clude leading executives of the Johns-Manville Corporation, the Owens-Coming Fiberglas Corporation, the Certain-teed Products Corporation and others as well as representatives of tho Quebec Mine Producers Association and the Insulation Distributor Contractors National Association; Labor repre sentatives will include the President and appropriate staff members of the International Association of Eeat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, while interested govern ment.: agencies will include the United States Public Health Service and the United States Bureau of Mines. The Working Group will meet at the Academy on May 14, 1968 at 9 AM. It is planned that the discussions will be 'completed by 5:30 PM; luncheon will be served at the Academy.
