FORM DC 00016- R1 DANA CORPORATION Victor Divisions - Chicago INTRA-COMPANY COMMUNICATION subject Victocor 300 - Range Of Combined Sheets date April 15, 1968 to D. R. Tarne cc: L. S. Dymitro Three experiments were performed to determine the range of the gauge of combined sheets under various settings of the combiner: Experiment One - High Setting '1 Exhibit I shows the results of combining fifty sheets with the combiner set on the high side of the Factory Standard. The added gauge of facings is correlated with the combined gauge of the sheet. The variation is measured from the regression line in the form of the standard error of the estimate which may be used in the same manner as the standard deviation. Three standard errors when measured of pi us and minus about the regression line will include 99.7% of the expected cases. In this exhibit the standard error (Sy) is .466 thousandths. The 99.7% limits show a range of 2.8 thousandths. Experiment Two - Mid Setting Exhibit II shows the results of combining fifty sheets to the center of the Factory Standard. The standard error is .548 thousandths. The 99.7% limits show a range of 3.3 thousandths. Experiment Three - Low Setting Exhibit III shows the Results of combining fifty sheets with the combiner set on the low side of the Factory Standard. The standard error is .549 thousandths, the 99.7% limits show a range ofS3 thousandths. An overlay is Included which shows the gap line, acceptable set up area, and the standard line. Points which appear above the gap line will show gap points below show compression. The acceptable set up area is based on the Factory Standard and shows, the area in which four successive points must be found to approve the set up. The standard line is the regression line used in establishing the Factory Standard, the standard error of this line is .464 thousandths. H. Gossellnk VPD-9"I'0002970 rb
