Yapp Safety & Security Coordinator Automotive Assembly Division Subject: Exposure to Asbestos Dust The following information is submitted in response to your request for an exposure to asbestos dust survey. A. All drilling and cutting of asbestos cement sheets and pipe is handled by outside contractors when required. B. We do not rework asbestos-containing production parts such as brake shoes, exhaust gaskets, and heater housings. Our only ex posure to handling these materials would be if the production parts contain asbestos. Fork lift repairmen handle precut gaskets for forkliftB and tugs. C. A. P. Green High Temperature Insulating Cement is used on the back ends of our boilers, approximately one per year for one hour per boiler. We have three boilers and two employes working on each. D. Asbestos powder or impregnated heat shields are not used at this location. E. We do not use sprayed on asbestos building insulation. F. Contractors are required to provide necessary exposure control or perform fabrication of Bubject materials away from the premises. We have five persons exposed to asbestos blankets (sample enclosed) at three locations in the plant. These blankets hang down on all four sides of a three foot by three foot calrod unit UBed to heat seat covers or window rubbers. The blankets serve as a heat barrier for the employes.
