December 10, 1980 The enclosed article, "Tetrachloroefhylene Contamination of Drinking Water by Vinyl-Coated Asbestos-Cement Pipe" recently was published in the Bulletin of Environmental Contaminant Toxicology (exact title uncertain). The introduction contains an error in fact in stating: Vinyl-coated A/C pipe has been used in parts of the northeastern U.S. over the past decade in response to concern that waters carried in uncoated A/C could contain potentially hazardous asbestos fibers.
