BESTEX TEXTURING COMPOUND
Bestex is a texture finish that produces hard, white surfaces that have excellent light reflective qualities and hiding power. Bestex A has no aggregate, B has a small amount of fine aggregate, C has a heavy amount of aggregate, and D has a coarse aggregate, creating a simulated acoustic effect. The B, C and D textures are for spray application only. Bestex A is available in 25 lb. bags, Bestex B, C and D are available in 40 lb. bags.
Surface Preparation:
BesfexTM A, B, C and D. All surfaces, including joint system applica tions, must be dry and clean. Roughen glossy surfaces. Prime any exposed metal surfaces with a rust inhibitor. Fill and seal any wood surfaces. For best results, it is recommended that a vinyl primer or equivalent be applied to the entire surface prior to texturing. Coverage:*
Bestex A: 12 to 50 lbs per 1,000 square feet of gypsum wallboard depending upon texture pattern.
Bestex B, C and D: Each 40 lb. bag finishes approximately 300 to 500 square feet of gypsum wallboard.
Application:
Bestex B, C and D. Apply with conventional spray texture apparatus as product warrants. Con tinuously agitate the mix when spraying to avoid separation or settling. For best coverage and uniformity of texture, spray a given area first in one direction, and then immediately double back at right angles to this application. Air pressure in spraying equipment will affect degree of tex ture. For coarser texture, use less air pressure, for finer texture, use more air pressure.
LAMINATING COMPOUND
Laminating Compound is a product developed for the sole purpose of laminating two gypsum boards together. It has the following ad vantages over regular joint compound for laminating wallboard: (1) More permanent bond, (2) Easier to spread, (3) Longer open life, and (4) More economical.
Consistency:
Dry powder mixes with water to form glue which will not self-level and which retains consistency during application. Proper mixture is 25 lbs. of compound added to 4V2 gallons of water (5V2 lbs. per gal lon). Hardens into a water-resistant solid form. Will not increase thickness due to bridging.
Application/Coverage:
Using a notched spreader (notches should be triangular 3/ie" x 3/ie" and %" on center) -- approximate coverage 30 pounds per 1,000 square feet.
Using a bead line (Ames tool or caulking gun) % " bead, 16" on cen ter-- approximate coverage 35 pounds per 1,000 square feet.
8 'Consistencies and coverage may vary with different types of equipment, workmanship and customer's 'equipments
