Dear Dr. White: We have your letter of July 19th re questing Information on treatment of acute and chronic tetre-ethyl lead poisoning. Poisoning from lead tetra-ethyl is limited to a relatively few Individuals employed in the manufacture and blending-;; of Ethyl Fluid with gasoline, and has no relation to the general public. Tetra-ethyl lead poisohing from Ethyl Gasoline has not to our knowledge yet occurred. Recent surveys of a large number of individuals en gaged in the handling and distribution of Ethyl Gaso line has revealed no significant lead absorption in them as a group, so we have not yet had to consider the question of treatment of lead poisoning as a result of Ethyl Gasoline exposure. In answer to your second question, the ingestion of Ethyl Gasoline Introduces the factor of toxicity of gasoline itself which, as you well know, has produced death after the Ingestion of one half to one ounce. The amount of lead in this amount of gasoline is so small as to have ho importane in the consideration of poisoning from gasoline ingestion, , ' ..
