Would it be the same type of vehicles that 10 the transmissions were manufactured for? 11 A They went into a smaller vehicle than some of 12 the transmissions would go into. 13 Q. What -- were these axle components sold 14 directly from Dana to the manufacturers of the 15 vehicles? 16 A Yes. 17 Q. And can you tell me what entities purchased 18 those axle components? 19 A Again, I can't name all of them. I would say 20 Ford and GM, Chrysler were the major supply -21 customers. 22 Q. I mean an axle. 14 A Yes, they sold completed axles. 15 Q. And they included brake assemblies? 16 A. In some cases, I believe. 17 Q. Which cases would it include brake assemblies 18 and which cases would it not? 19 A I'm not knowledgeable of that. It depended 20 on how the customer would specify the purchase. 21 Q. Were these -- what type of brakes were 22 attached to these axle components, disc or drum? 23 A Again, I'm not knowledgeable of that 24 Q. Do you know how long Dana manufactured this 25 product, when it began and when it ended? 1 entity that was -- was ultimately acquired by Dana, or 2 was it an entity created by Dana? 3 A. Spicer was an engineer that developed a 4 universal joint about 1903. Dana was a financial 5 person that bought him out. From there they built 6 Dana Corporation, which consisted of a number of 7 divisions. Four of them sold under the Spicer 8 trademark: Axle, clutch, transmission and universal 9 joint. 10 Q. When did the Spicer division begin selling 11 clutches? 12 A In the late 40's. 13 Q. And do they continue to do that today? 14 A. Yes --well, no. They were sold to Eaton. 15 Clutch division was sold to Eaton Corporation. 16 Q. And when was that? 17 A. I can't give you an exact time. It was in 18 the late 90's. 19 Q. Was Eaton one of the entities, if you know, 20 that sold brake assemblies to Dana for incorporation 21 into their axle components? 22 A I don't know what Eaton sold to Dana or what 23 Dana sold to Eaton. 24 Q.
