Hammond It is the recommendation of the Texas City Industrial Hygiene department that protective clothing for asbestos handling be worn by all persons exposed to any activity that would cause asbestos fibers to become airborne. These activities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Removal of asbestos-containing insulation and packing materials. 2. Removal of asbestos-containing gaskets when grinding, brushing or other destruction of the binding material is necessary for removal. 3. In-plant cutting of asbestos-containing material - i.e. fabrication of gaskets. Any questions concerning whether a material contains asbestos should be directed to the Industrial Hygiene Department.
