Hekmat April 12, 1990 1990 Monitoring Strategy In reference to the 1990 Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Strategy, a few items need to be revised. 1. The Monitoring Strategy for Vinyl Chloride specified that in the event that any sample taken shows exposure levels in excess of the action level, a second, follow-up sample will be collected within 6 months from receipt of the analysis. Based on OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1017.d.2.ii, any vinyl chloride results above the action level must be re-monitored every 3 months. 2. The Monitoring Strategy requires 122 STEL samples for chlorine. This number should also include TWA exposures ( 25%). This can be a combination of sampling and calculation, but compliance with the 0.5 PPM TWA, OSHA PEL must be addressed. 3. There has been some modification on the progress report time table. Satisfactory progress will be considered 25% by 4/1, 60% by 7/1, 80% by 10/1 and completed by 12/1. In order to make the Laboratory's Progress Report more pleasant, I have enclosed two separate Progress Report Forms designed recently for organic and inorganic sampling. Please use these forms to report your progress.
