The six bulk samples submitted to me from U40 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains, New York, have been analyzed for asbestos. The results are as follows:
Sampling Location
Results
100C Office
Major crystalline component is chrysotile asbestos
600C Stockroom
< 5% chrysotile
600C boiler room
Major crystalline component is chrysotile asbestos
600C Shop
Major crystalline component is chrysotile asbestos
1100C EDAS
No indication of asbestos
All samples were evaluated using both x-ray diffraction and dispersion staining optical microscopy. X-ray diffraction showed no asbestos for the sample labeled stockroom. Dis persion staining optical microscopy revealed that this sample contained birefringent fibers with the optical and morphological characteristics of asbestos. This sample does
contain asbestos, but less than 5?.
If you have any questions about the above analysis, please give me a call at (201) 582-7512.
