Dear Doctor Donnelly: lour card of July 25 requesting spot sample bottles and needles for the collection of urine and blood for lead analysis has been held pending acquisition of additional information,. This is not a diagnostic laboratory as such, and ve do not do routine work of this kind for fees' as a general rule. Rather it is a research laboratory, and while ve undertake to give every assistance that is feasible in the analysis of samples and in the Interpretation of results obtained, this is done primarily for our- own information. Ve recognize the difficulties of obtaining accurate analytical results of this type, and therefore we make every reasonable concession to the present situation. However, we do require as complete Information as possible, including a detailed history of lead exposure, its nature, its duration, ana the date of the last exposure, together with as complete information as may be available from the clinical viewpoint. Ve make a charge to cover the actual cost of the analysis, which is -$5u j for each sample analyzed , but we make no charge when it would be burdensome to the patient In other words we are more Interested in information than we are in fee3, and yet we cannot conduct large numbers of such observations at the expense of funds made available to us for experimental purposes.
